Fractured Shorts
This idea came from a creative writing class that I had. You could do it with any disscussion board type system, and I think it allows for a lot of creative expression. Here is how it works:1. A short story is created on the message board. It may go from start to finish, or it may be "fractured." If it is fractured, more users can come in and write alternative chapters, just by creating a new message and titling them with the same title as the story and indicating the chapter.
2. if a story already has a chapter but someone wants to take it in a different direction, they can do so. In order for it to still read correctly, everytime a new direction is taken with the story, this will be called a 'thread' of the story, and it should have a version number to differentiate it from the other threads.
following these two rules the sky is the limit! Any story can be written or rewritten in any way possible.
entries may be edited for content.

bob the giant (example story) (Reply)
It was an incredulous morning when Bob the giant stepped timidly from his rock-littered cave and squinted through the rays of light that danced about on his face like billy elliot.
"Today is a day for adventure!" he thought to himself, as his nose was made aware of the first creeping smells of the morning.Posted by admin_thunderbird at 3:44 AM, Oct. 11th 2006
